Last week was City Serve at LCS and our students and staff enjoyed serving our neighbors and the Omaha community.
Our morning kicked off with some wonderful, all school worship time from the team at Lifegate Church and included a special message from LCS parent, Tom Houghton. Mr. Houghton walked us through what it means to be a servant leader and why we should follow Jesus’ example of making our lives about others.
Kindergarten through 3rd grade spent the remainder of the morning filling blessing bags to deliver to our neighbors in the Wycliffe subdivision & Wycliffe Apartments. These bags were filled with popcorn, granola bars, snacks, treats, handmade cards, a free drink coupon from Stories Coffee Co., and an invitation to attend both our weekend services at Lifegate Church as well as our upcoming I AM THEY fundraising concert. 4th through 7th graders received some formal education from the Keep Omaha Beautiful organization and went to Zorinsky Park for trash pick up.
Our 8th graders served at Center Park with storm drain clean up, replacing instructional stickers, and handing out educational brochures.
We love setting aside one day each year to focus on serving our city and reminding students that their small acts of love can be multiplied for great impact. We are already looking forward to our next all school service day in 2023!
